The world is agog, celebrating the successful circling of the earth around the sun. The revolution, and rotation of the earth, gets different parts of the World, to face/worship the sun at different times of day.
In 1582 Pope Gregory XIII modified and replaced, the Julian calendar and the Gregorian calendar of January-December, with 365(except in a leap year), is used in most part of the World.
Among the igbos there existed means of computation of time before the first missionary landed with his diary and calendar.
Igbo measures its circle in 4 days to make equivalent of what Gregorian calendar call a week, 7 weeks a month and 13 months a year.
Igbo days are not counted Monday to Friday, but; Eke.

In various parts of Igboland, each community has a market named after the aforementioned four market days, for example;
Ekeukwu/Eke Onuwa market in Owerri Municipal, Orie-Nwinyi in Azaraegbelu of Owerri-North, Afó-Irete in Owerri-West, Nwko Emeke in Owerri North and Afor Enyiogugu in Mbaise.
Igbo months and her equivalent in Gregorian Calendar:
1. Onwa Mbu: February – March.
2. Onwa Abuo: March – April.
3. Onwa Ife Eke: April – May.
4. Onwa Ano: May – June.
5. Onwa Agwu June – July.
6. Onwa Ifejioky July – August.
7. Onwa Alom: August – Early September.
8. Onwa llo Mmuo: late September. 9. Onwa Ana is equivalent to October.
10. Onwa Okike: early November.
11. Onwa Ajana: late November.
12. Onwa Ede Ajana: late November to December.
13. Onwa Uzo Alus: is equivalent to January to early February.
