His Excellencies, Distinguished Senators, Honourable Representatives, Royal Highness and Traditional Rulers, Captains of Industries, Sons and Daughters of Emekuku, all other protocols duly observed, Ladies and Gentlemen, a very good afternoon.
You are all welcomed to this memorable and epic event properly organized by the timbers and calibres of Emekuku to welcome our dear brother and amiable son of the soil – Comrade Joe Ajaero.

The strength of the Iroko stands not in its name but its imposing height, enigma and coverage with all its paraphernalia of existence that is advantages to its self and environment.
Today we can proudly beat our chests with our heads raised up high to say that we have once more been brought to the lime light in Nigeria and the world at large by the feat achieved by our own – Comrade Joe Ajaero who is now the President of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) – the most powerful union in Nigeria and Africa as a whole.
Comrade Joe Ajaero (Azara 1 of Azara-Ubo) is the son of the soil of Emekuku, Owerri North, Imo State; born on the 17th of December, 1964. He is endowed with the following brief profile:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the Prestigious University of Nigeria, Nsukka (1990).
- Research Officer One Mechanized Infantry Division Nigerian Army Kaduna
(NYSC 1990/1991). - Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism from Times Journalism Institute
(1994). - Masters Degree in Industrial and Labour Relations from the University of Lagos (1998).
- Certificate in Advance Tariff Structuring and Subsidy Design Option from the IP3 Cape Town, South Africa (2003).
- Reporter/Correspondent and Assistant News Editor-Vanguard Newspapers (1992-2001).
- Secretary/Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Vanguard chapter.
- Member Central Working Committee and National Executive Council of the NUJ (1997-1999).
- Head Training/Information, National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) (2001-2005).
- General Secretary – National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) (2005 to Date).
- Titular representing Africa in the Global Union Federation Public Services
International 2012-2017. - Comrade Ajaero served in the Presidential Committee on Power Sector
Reform set up by President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua. - Chairperson NLC Political Commission.
- Director, Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF).
- Deputy President Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) 2011 to date.
With such a magnificent background and outstanding profile, no wonder the NLC deemed it very important to make these indefatigable personnel the leader of their union and champion of the voices of over 200million Nigerians at their 13th National Delegates Conference.
Comrade Joe Ajaero is an Iroko and We Are Very Proud of You.
We congratulate our brother on this great achievement and encourage him in his civic responsibilities towards actualizing the aims and objectives of the Nigeria Labour Congress.
Him whom much is given, much is expected from him. And the reward for hard work is more work. We believe in you and have no doubt that you will make us proud.
