At a meeting of the Emii Of Iri Political Stakeholders held on January. 23rd, 2023 at Ubah Mbaoma Emi Ward, to deliberate on the position of Emin in the politics of Owerri North, the following issues were resolved as follows: –
i. Emii ward shall continue to participate actively in the politics of Owerri North by effective contributions and representations.
ii. Emii Ward shall continue to clamour and draw attention of relevant agencies to the deplorable nature of the major access roads that pass through Emii from neigbouring wards and communities to others; as well as recognition for appointments by the government.
ili. Emill Ward shall at all times stand by the age long zoning principles that exist in Owerri North, particularly the two elective positions of Owerri North State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, and the Executive Council Chairmanship; on the basis of one term only per a geopolitical zone.
Thus, the tenure of the Imo House of Assembly seat, occupied by Emii/Emekuku geopolitical zone since 2019 shall terminate by May 2023, to be occupied by the next geopolitical zone, Uratta, in order of rotation from 2023 to 2027. All Emii voters shall cast their votes in the March 11. 2023 House of Assembly election to any of the parties of their choice that have candidates from Uratta geopolitical zone only.
It is also noted for emphasis that within the Emit/Emekuku geopolitical zone, when next the seat of the Imo State House of Assembly rotates to the geopolitical zone by 2039 (all things being equal), it shall be the turn of Emi sub zone, to produce the candidate(s) for the election.
iv. With regard to the Council Chairmanship election, Emii Political Stakeholders resolved to remind the entire Owerri North that it shall be the turn of Emii/(under Emii/Emekuku zone) to produce the candidate(s) if and when the government of Imo State decides to conduct the election.
Existing political parties are enjoined to bear this in mind and act accordingly in the same spirit of rotation. v. With regard to the general elections of February 25th and March 11th 2023,
Emii Political Stakeholders resolved to ensure rancor free exercise as voters are urged to think more of the quality of the candidates from the various political parties and vote, rather than the political parties, not withstanding that it is the logos of the political parties that appear on the ballot papers.
