The Claimant, Christopher Ehifoh, a Nigerian businessman living in Switzerland, has approached an Abuja High Court sitting in Zuba, to seek redress against Kingsley Ughe and 360 Nobs Limited, over defamatory publications made against him.
The defamatory publications were made on Facebook account belonging to the first defendant and also published on the website of the second defendant claiming that, Nigerian man arrested in Switzerland for deceiving 14 women into marriage; “MEET CHRISTOPHER EHIFOH ALIAS CHRISTOPHER A.J. BENARD, WHO STALKS, PREYS AND DECEIVES WOMEN IN THE NAME OF MARRIAGE. His real name Christopher Ehifoh.. But he operates under different aliases. His most recent alias is Christopher A.J Bernard. He is from Edo state, precisely Obedu in Uromi.. Age is between 45 to 49 but he claims to be 35 to unwary victims.”
This publication presented the Claimant as a fraudster arrested by Swiss authorities.
The Claimant has therefore approached the Court seeking the following relieves:
A DECLARATION that the said statements written and published by the 1st Defendant on his FACEBOOK page and Further published by the 2nd Defendant on its website: https://www.36onobs.com/2017/04/nigerian-man-arrested-switzerland-deceiving-14-women-marriage/” in the month of April, 2017 is libelous, injurious and defamatory against the Claimant.
AN ORDER of this honourable court directing the Defendants to retract the said written statements made by the 1″ Defendant on his FACEBOOK page and further published by the 2nd Defendant on its website “https://www.36onobs.com/2017/04/nigerian-man-arrested-switzerland-deceiving-14-women-marriagel” in the month of April, 2017.
AN ORDER of this honourable court, directing the 2″d Defendant to pull down from its Website the said written statement by the is Defendant it being libelous, injurious and defamatory against the Claimant.
THE SUM of Fifty Million Naira (A50,000,000) each against the Ist and 2nd Defendants in favour of the Claimant as General Damages.
The matter last came up on 12/03/2024 and adjourned to May 13th for the 2 defendants to cross examine the claimant.
