Eke Convicted Of Rape In Imo State

Pastor Desmond Eke, of Deliverance Ministry of The Good Shepherd was today, convicted of rape by a High Court sitting in Owerri, the Imo State Capital.
In Suit No How/32C/2022; State vs Pastor Desmond Eke, Hon. Justice T.N. Nzeukwu convicted the accused after the prosecution, Mrs. Chioma Emuka, had proved the guilt of the accused beyond reasonable doubt.
The convict was accused of raping a 25 year old mother of 4 children while under the guise of delivering from Marine Spirit he alleged was about to wipe her entire family.
According to the prosecution, the convict administered substance on the victim in the guise of holy water and anointing oil, which had a soporific effect on the woman.She woke up later to find herself in the middle of deep penetration by the Man of God.
When the woman resisted, the Pastor Eke told her that having sex with her,  was an essential part of the deliverance, as his holy sperm, upon ejaculation, would destroy and liberate her from the chains of her spiritual husband & marine spirit.
This case,  was reported by ONURUBE Foundation  to the police and despite all pressure and threat, they followed it up on representative capacity till  Judgment was delivered today.
The convict, was tried under the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law of Imo State, 2021, (popularly called the VAPP Law) and it is the first successful conviction under this law.
