Stories In My Book Of Bible Stories.

My first introduction to Christian literature, was My Book of Bible Stories.
It took me years to realise that, it was published by Jehovah Witness.
After this My Book of Bible Stories introduction, another literature, is the Bible. The Reversed Standard Version. I later discovered King James 1611 and those ones that have Jesus’ words in red.One thing I found fascinating in those early Christian literatures, were funny funny images of animals and nsibidi like of drawings. Again it took me years before I was taught at age 13 that those inscriptions were Egyptian hieroglyphics. So what’s ancient, idolatry writings doing in the Bible, I asked one day during Sunday School at St. Peter’s Anglican Church Irete.
The look on the face of our Brother-the Sunday School teacher, did not frighten me but made me curious to find out more.
What also bothered me, was Hosea 11:1, “When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son.”
Which son?
I went back looking at those pictures in My Book of Bible Story and an image keeps coming up. The image of half man, half falcon. What is this?
Later, I learnt that he is Heru, the Egyptian god of kingship, healing, protection, the sun, and the sky.
Further studies, show that the story of Jesus, as told in My Book of Bible Stories, looks like a photocopy of Heru as told by Egyptians, when Isreal was in Egypt, before Moses liberated them.
