Justice Mary Odili Judicial Institute held its first workshop today as part of the three days workshop for the newly appointed Judges of the Rivers State High Court and the Customary Court of Appeal.
The administrator of the Institute Hon. Justice Anwuri Ken-Chikere(Rtd) in her opening remarks stressed on the objective of the institute, she said the objective of the institute is to train judicial officers and improve them in carrying out their duties.
Present at the opening ceremony were Hon. Justice Mary U. Odili JSC, CFR(Rtd), the Hon. Justice Simeon C. Amadi, Chief Judge of Rivers State. In his remarks, the Chief Judge made it clear that the Institute is not in conflict with the NJC as the Institute only compliments the NJC.
The Hon Attorney General of Rivers State who represented the Executive Governor of Rivers State made it clear that the Justice Mary Odili Institute is backed by law , made by the Rivers State House Of Assembly known as Justice Mary Odili Judicial Law No.8 of 2021.
The Director of Studies/Training Department of the Institute Dr V.N. Enebeli gave the vote of thanks and thank all the participants for finding time to attend the ceremony.
The opening ceremony was attended by lawyers and judges in Rivers State.
After the opening ceremony, Hon. Justice Mary U. Odili JSC, CFR delivered a paper in the first session of the workshop followed by Emmanuel Ukala, SAN and Dr Chizindu Akubudike Alikor (Professor of cardiology Rivers State Teaching Hospital).
